Inland Valley Daily Bulletin: High Desert Tea Party candidate forum Thursday
June 2nd, 2010VICTORVILLE -- Ten confirmed candidates for office, including Rep. Jerry Lewis, R-Redlands, and Sheriff Rod Hoops, will speak at a 5:30 p.m. meeting Thursday of the High Desert Tea Party Movement at the Cocky Bull Steakhouse and Opry Hall.
The group, in a news release, predicted a crowd of 300 to 500 people at the event.
Hoops will be the lead off speaker followed in order by Laura Boatright, Ontario Team Party leader; Art Delgado, superintendent of the San Bernardino City Schools and candidate for county superintendent of schools; and Chuck Devore, candidate for U.S. senator.
County Assessor-Recorder Dennis Draeger is seeking election to the post he was appointed to last year; John Eastman, candidate for state attorney general; Ken Hunter, seeking re-election to the 59th Assembly District seat; Lewis; Ensen Mason is seeking to oust Larry Walker from the post of county auditor-controller and treasurer-tax collector, and Tom Toriakson, seeking election to state superintendent of public instruction, the press release states.
Speakers are each to be given 10 minutes to speak and five minutes for questions from the audience.
